Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation
Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM) is a safe, non-invasive treatment option offered at New Haven Pet Hospital. The goal of VOM is to address misalignment issues in your pet’s vertebrae which can cause a variety of health problems. VOM can be used as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with other treatment modalities to find relief for your pet’s condition.
Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation Evaluation
Our experienced veterinarian will evaluate your pet’s condition, and determine if your pet is a candidate for VOM. Proper diagnosis of the underlying cause of your pet’s health issue is important to develop the proper treatment plan for your pet. We will carefully explain all of your pet’s treatment options and benefits to your pet. The VOM evaluation may include:
- An extensive physical exam
- Blood work
Uses for Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation
Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation most closely resembles pet chiropractic care. VOM focuses on reestablishing neuronal communication and cannot harm your pet. VOM has demonstrated therapeutic benefit in a wide variety of conditions such as:
- Hip dysplasia
- Knee disease
- Disc disease
- Digestive disorders
- Endocrine disease
Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation Treatment
VOM is non-invasive and does not require general anesthesia. We create a calm and comfortable atmosphere, and the vast majority of pets find the treatment completely pain-free. The treatment is performed with the use of a handheld spinal accelerometer, which can identify and correct misalignment of your pet’s vertebrae.
Many pets will benefit immediately following their first VOM treatment. Based on your pet’s condition, 3–5 treatment sessions may be necessary for maximum therapeutic benefit.
New Haven Pet Hospital is proud to offer this innovative treatment option for your pet. Please contact us with any questions you may have regarding VOM, or to schedule an appointment.
