When Pet Boarding Is the Right Answer
It can be understandably difficult to leave your pet in someone else’s care, but sometimes it’s necessary. Whether you’re traveling or hosting an allergy-prone guest at home, boarding your pet in a facility that you trust can be an excellent opportunity. The good news is that New Haven Pet Hospital offers comfortable and safe pet boarding, so you don’t have to worry. The solution is that we are your best friend’s home away from home.
Many people hire professional pet sitters or dog walkers; others ask friends or relatives to pop in to feed, exercise, and clean up after a pet who’s home alone. In spite of these common alternatives to pet boarding, there are significant disadvantages.
A Close Eye
One of the best reasons to board your pet at a vet is that if your beloved cat or dog requires immediate medical attention in your absence, you can guarantee they’ll be attended to by our veterinarians and staff. We closely monitor the health and well-being of all of our guests, and stay in contact with their owners if necessary.
In addition to receiving medical care when needed, you can add on specific services when you board your pet with us. For instance, many pet owners elect to have their pet groomed before they are scheduled to go home. We can also add on dental exam and cleanings, wellness exam, microchipping, ortho manipulation, and more.
A Day in the Life
Cats and dogs are kept in separate housing to ensure full and complete relaxation. Each individual pet has their own space and food, and receives a daily dose of affection, attention, and exercise. We are also open to speaking with you regularly to keep you apprised of your pet’s well-being.
How to Prepare for Pet Boarding
We want our clients to feel that their pet will be in the best possible hands and value the importance of scheduling a tour prior to booking a reservation. New Haven Pet Hospital requires the full and updated vaccination record of each guest. It is paramount that each boarder is fully protected from disease and parasites.
Please let us know if you have any questions about our boarding release form.
We recommend bringing your pet into the pet boarding facility prior to their upcoming drop-off. Give them lots of good feedback, praise, and rewards. We encourage a swift goodbye on the big day, as long, drawn out goodbyes can be extremely upsetting to animals.
Some pets need a day or two to become re-acquainted with their home environments after boarding. Again, positive feedback is helpful, as well as time and patience.
Please let us know if you have additional questions or concerns about pet boarding. We are always here for you.
